Job Description: Network Administrator at Trimble
Introduction
Trimble, a leading company in transforming the way the world works, is seeking a Network Administrator to join their global, corporate networking team in Chennai, TN, India. As a Network Administrator, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and operating the company's internal worldwide communications systems.
Job Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Assisting with network design, implementation, and operation of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and voice networks
Acting as a network lead for a designated geographical region, including planning, designing, and implementing networked systems
Troubleshooting and maintaining both in-house and vendor network connections, including configuring routers, switches, wireless access points, and other devices or technologies as required
Coordinating with vendors for installation of direct internet access (DIA) circuits, MPLS circuits, and other network infrastructure components
Key Responsibilities
Operational support and incident resolution
Compliance: Monitoring and correcting compliance issues for device configurations
Standardization: Developing and maintaining standard configurations, procedures, and guidelines for installing and operating data networks
Performing first-line troubleshooting of network issues
System maintenance: Performing firmware/OS upgrades on routers, switches, firewalls, access points, and other devices in accordance with company needs
Capacity planning: Reviewing circuit and device capacities and recommending actions to the Global Network Manager
Interfacing with ISP and carriers to install/commission/test new circuits and/or troubleshoot existing circuits
Occasional on-call duties (every 6 weeks for two days)
Skills & Experience Required
Team player with excellent communication skills
Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources
BS or BA degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent education, training
0-2 years of experience in a similar role
Willingness to travel as per project requirement
Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware
Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions
Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewalls, routers, switches
Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols
Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems
Provides specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection
CCNA trained/Certified
Knowledge of the following technologies in design/implement/troubleshooting capacity is essential:
LAN: Switching - Cisco IOS/Nexus, VLANs, STP/RSTP, Ether-channel/Trunking, etc.
Routing: BGP, EIGRP, HSRP or VRRP, PBR, etc.
VPN Solutions: IOS/ASA based L2L and Client access VPN, Knowledge of DMVPN
Authentication solutions including Cisco ACS/RADIUS/TACACS/Certificates (PKI) greatly desired
Network troubleshooting using packet capture and analysis using tools such as Wireshark
Network security experience desired
